On 27 September 2018, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica Kamina Johnson-Smith signed the Agreement between the Government of Jamaica and the Government of the Russian Federation on conditions of the waiver of visa requirements for mutual visits of the nationals of the Russian Federation and the nationals of Jamaica.
The agreement shall enter into force on 27 November 2018.
According to the Agreement nationals of the Russian Federation and nationals of Jamaica holding valid passports, giving the right to cross the border, may enter, leave, pass in transit or stay in the territory of the other State without obtaining a visa for a maximum of ninety calendar days within the period of one year, from the date of their first entry.
Nationals of either State who intend to stay or reside in the territory of the other State for a period exceeding ninety days within the period of one year, from the date of their first entry, or to take up employment or to participate in activities other than business, cultural exchanges, tourism, private or educational tours, in the receiving State shall obtain a visa at a diplomatic mission or consular post of that State in accordance with its legislation.
