On the days of celebration of the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, Russian diplomatic missions abroad held commemorative, official and cultural events, including receptions and solemn gatherings, meetings with war veterans, ceremonies at monuments and memorials to Soviet soldiers, as well as various public actions attended by our compatriots.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, survivors of the siege of Leningrad and former minor inmates of Nazi concentration camps, who currently reside abroad, were presented with personal congratulations from the President of the Russian Federation.
Special attention was devoted to maintaining Russian (Soviet) military burial sites located in foreign countries.
On May 9, 2018, the traditional military parade took place on Red Square, to which the heads of foreign diplomatic missions and representatives of international organisations, accredited in Moscow, had been invited. Attending the parade were Prime Minister of the State of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, who also took part in the wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Garden and joined the Immortal Regiment march.
Large Immortal Regiment marches took place abroad. In many countries, locals marched alongside our compatriots. In addition, numerous public patriotic actions were held, including the St George Ribbon campaign and motorcycle rallies, one of which was Roads of Victory – To Berlin.
